Built in Canada in collaboration with Heather Knight and HK Industrial and built to haul it all, this duffle measures 31” x 14” x 12” with a spacious double-zip main compartment, a 3” accessories pocket, and a 12” boot compartment to keep dirty gear separate. Inside, you’ll find two pockets and a handy key hook for quick grab-and-go organization.

This Workshop Wednesday, we’re sharing a truly heartfelt story, one told by a daughter about her incredibly hardworking mother. A woman who stepped into the trades later in life, leading with her heart first and full of courage. 💛

“Luann Baker-Johnson went to art school in her 50s, and as a grieving mom she discovered that glass blowing could create strength out of fragility. She went back to school to heal, to grow, and to learn how to laugh again after losing one of her children to leukemia at just 19 years old.

In 2016, she opened Lumel Studios in Whitehorse, Yukon, a space the community has lovingly nicknamed the ‘Happiness Factory,’ a testament to the incredible force of nature she truly is.

Luann lives life as one big adventure and passes that spirit to everyone she meets. She’s travelled the world, lived across five countries, and worn many titles including being a mother of 6. She’s grown Lumel into a place of joy, grief, belonging, and home. It’s a studio that continues to tell a story about creating happiness, connection, and the human experience.

This Workshop Wednesday, we’re proud to share the story of @chantalhennessy, a local heavy equipment operator and truck driver from Ontario.

Thank you, Chantal, for sharing your experience, engaging with our community, and inspiring the next generation of women in the trades. 💪

Here’s her story... 👇

“Where it all started, from first applying for a labourer job at a septic company, from doing the groundwork to slowly learning different pieces of equipment and dump trucks around the pit. From there, I began operating smaller equipment for snow removal, moved on to running larger equipment and dump trucks in a landfill, and now drive a bulk truck for a propane company.

Some of the challenges I’ve faced over the years include finding work clothing that actually fits properly as a woman or not getting discouraged when I don’t get a job and can’t help but wonder if it’s because I’m a woman!

What I enjoy most about running equipment/driving trucks is there’s always something to learn, you also get to meet a lot of interesting people along the way who become like family after spending 12-14 hours a day working together.”
